Service  Captain Basden served in Bundlecund from November 1843 to March 1845. Served with a Column under Major Forbes at the capture of the Fort of Geguahut, in Bundlecund, in 1844. Present at the mutiny of the late 61st Native Infantry on 7th June 1861. Received a sabre wound in the right arm. Served with a Column under Major Olphert's Artillery in 1857. Joined the Army of Delhi on 21st September 1857. Served in Command of the 5th Punjab Cavalry and Frontier of Dehra Ismael Khan on the 13th March 1860, when 3 000 Mahsood Wuzeerees, who threatened the city of Tak, were repulsed leaving 200 dead on the field. Medal.
