Service  Captain Hale served in the Campaign of 57. Present at the Mutiny of the 2nd Oude Irregular Infantry at Secrora. Served with the 12th Irregular Cavalry against the rebels near Benares, on 6th July 57. (Horse shot) Contusion of the chest, action, at Azimghur, 19th July; Guggah, near Goruckpore, 13th August. Present, when attacked in camp, with the Goorkha Force under Colonel Wroughton, by Mahomed Hossein. Mentioned in the Despatch of Major G. Boileau, who commanded the 12th Irregular Cavalry on the 6th July 57. Served as British Officer attached to the "Daveedut" Regiment, Goorkha Force, under Colonel Wroughton. Medal. Received the thanks of the Brigadier Commanding at Benares, in Brigade Orders of 7th or 8th July 57.
