Service  Lieutenant Macfarlane served during the Burmese "War, 52, 53. Present at the capture of Pegu, 21st November 52. Medal and Clasp. Served during the Mutinies, 57, 58. Present at the actions of Badlee-ka-Serai, 8th June 57; in many of the affairs before Delhi, from 8th June to 20th September, including the night attack in rear of the Camp, 19th June; Subjee Mundee, 23rd June; Ludlow Castle, 23rd July; and present at the action of Nudjufghur, 25th August. Present at the final assault and capture of Delhi, at the action of Narnoul against the Joudpore Legion and other rebels, and commanded the Regiment after Colonel Gerrard was mortally wounded, and brought it out of action. Present under Sir T. Seaton, in the Doab, at the actions of Gungeeree, Puttiallee, and Mynpooree. Present at the final siege and capture of Lucknow under Lord Clyde, in March 58. Medal and 2 Clasps. Present during the Campaign in Oude, and engaged in several minor combats after the capture of the Capital.
