Present and commanded the Sappers and Miners with the Gwalior Field Force under General Grey, at the action of Punniar, on the 29th December 43. Mentioned in the Despatch of the General Commanding, dated 5th January 44. Bronze Star. Served in Scinde, in 45, as Field Engineer to the Force in the Hill Campaign under Sir Charles Napier. Brought to the favorable notice of His Excellency. Present at Mooltan throughout the siege operations and surrender in the capacity of Directing Engineer right attack, and afterwards as Brigade-Major of Engineers. Brought to the notice of Government, 23rd January 49. Again in the Despatch of Major R. Napier, late Chief Engineer, Mooltan Field Force, dated 23rd January 49. Also in the Despatch, Major-General Whish, Commanding Mooltan Field Force, 13th February 49. Present at the action of Sooroojkhoond. Favorably mentioned by Colonel Frank, Commanding, dated 8th November 48. Present at the battle of Goojerat in the capacity of Brigade Major of Engineers, and brought to notice by the Chief Engineer of the Army of the Punjab, in his Despatch to the Adjutant-General of the Army, dated Camp Goojerat, 25th February 49, dated 26th February 49. Medal and 2 Clasps, and Brevet-Majority.
