Service  Major Wilson commanded a Detached Company of his Regiment (the late 13th Native Infantry) at the capture of the Fort of "Chirgong," April 41: the Company had five men wounded on the occasion. Mentioned in the Despatches. Commanded a Company of his Regiment at the action of "Punwarree," in Bundlecund, in June 42, when two Companies of the late 13th Native Infantry and a Squadron of the late 8th Light Cavalry defeated upwards of 3,000 Bundeelahs; more than 80 of the enemy, together with their leader, were left dead on the Field, and the two Companies had 20 men killed and wounded. Served throughout the Punjab Campaign of 48, 49: passage of the Chenab and battle of Goojerat. Medal and Clasp, Appointed Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General to the late Sir Henry Lawrence, 21st May 57. Served in the action in the old Cantonments of Lucknow, on the night of the 30th and morning of the 31st May 57, and at the battle of Chinhut, 3rd June 59, with Sir H. Lawrence, when he was mortally hit, and was himself slightly wounded by a piece of the same shell. Served as Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General to the old Lucknow Garrison, throughout the entire siege, from the 30th June to 22nd November 57. Prominently mentioned in the Despatches, and thanked in the Government Gazette, 8th December 57, "For courage, activity, and sound judgment in a very high degree." Service again acknowledged in Government Gazette, 11th January 58. Medal, Clasp, C.B., and Brevet-Major, and one years extra service. Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General to General Windham, at the Bombardment of Cawnpore, December 57; at the affairs on the Jumna with Brigadier Herberts Detachment, December 58. Mentioned in Despatches.
