Madras Presidency

The Madras Presidency covered the southern half of India and Ceylon (now called Sri Lanka).

The indexes contained here consists of data offered by Institutions, Members, Scholars, Historians and others.

In 2017 FIBIS commissioned a photographer (Mr R Sharma) to take photographs and details of all legible headstones found in cemeteries within this Presidency. With these photographs, FIBIS volunteers went to work extracting the information found on the headstones, painstakingly transcribing them and creating this large (and mostly unique) index of names, dates and other information found on some headstones.

Want a Photograph of one of these headstones?
