Description  Son of the celebrated “Nimrod.” In charge of the Government Horse Nursery at Poosah. The author, Minden Wilson, bagged many a brace of quail when out shooting with Apperley on the low land to the north of Suckree.    
Indexer Notes  (1) Colonel Apperley’s father was Charles James Apperley [1777-1843], a popular writer on sporting-subjects, who wrote under the nom de plume, “Nimrod.” See also the index entry for “Apperley, Charles James” [pg. 139]. (2) The author, Minden J. Wilson, provided a brief description of Poosah (also spelt, Pusa) [pg. 139].
