Description  Of Kumtoul. Had left England at age twelve; returned home after an absence of twenty-eight years, “determined to enjoy himself. The money flowed like water till one fine day the banker refused to cash his cheques.” Managed to scrape enough together to pay for a passage to India. Went to his old friend Dr. Begg in Calcutta, and “almost immediately got knocked over with a severe illness.” Begg took up the management of Wilson’s affairs, sending him home with an allowance of £400 per annum. Died shortly after getting home.
