CommentIndex of Indigo Planters in Bihar taken from "History of Behar Indigo Factories; Reminiscences of Bihar; Tirhoot
and its inhabitants of the past.". by Minden Wilson 1908.

Surname  Anderson
Forename  John
Chapter  Tirhoot and Its Inhabitants of the Past
Sub-title  Biographical sketch: John Anderson
Page nos.  286-287
Description  Was sub-manager at Chetwarrah c.1847-48. He left the indigo industry soon after and got a berth as Deputy Magistrate and Collector in Mozufferpore. A man of good family, but a disappointed man—“He died not many years after getting into the Uncovenanted Service, leaving a wife and one or two daughters. His brother, who was an officer in the artillery, and one who distinguished himself in the Lucknow Residency, was a bachelor, and on his brother’s death supported his wife and daughters, leaving them at his own death well provided for.”
Indexer Notes  Please note that there were three, perhaps four, men named John Anderson, who were indigo planters in Bengal during the nineteenth century. The subject of this index entry appears to be someone other than John Anderson No. 1 or John “Soojee” Anderson.
