Lord Napier. 1871: Acting Collector of Sea Customs, and Protector of Emigrants, Madras; Acting Collector and Magistrate, South Arcot; afterwards Collector and Magistrate, and Special Agent of the French Settlement and Political Agent for Pondicherry. 1872: On furlough to Europe for 21 months. 1874: Collector, South Arcot. 1875: On Special Duty at Madras. 1876: Collector, South Arcot; Acting Secretary to Government, Reveue Department. 1877: Temporary Additional Secretary to Government, Revenue Department. 1878: Collector, District Magistrate, and Agent to the Governor, in Vizagpatam; Made a C.S.I., 25th May. 1879: Acting Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department. 1880: On Duty in the Goverment Secretarit; Collector, Magistrate, and Agent to the Governor, in Vizagapatam. 1881: Collector, Vizagapatam. On furlough to Europe for 20 months. 1882: Appointed Third Member of the Revenue Board. 1883: Acting Second Member, afterwards Acting First Member, of the Revenue Board; also intrusted with the Duty of Revising the Establishments of Collectors and Divisional Officers in the Presidency. 1884: Second Member, afterwards Acting First Member of the Revenue Board; Also Magistrate of the First Class with ordinary and special Powers, in Tinnevelly District.
