CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1848: Writer and Student at the College. 1851: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Salem; afterwards at Cuddapah. 1854: Acting Head Assistant, to Collector and Magistrate, Salem. 1856: Acting Sub-Judge, Salem; Head Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate, Trichinopoly. 1857: Acting Additional Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Canara. 1859: On furlough to Europe for 3 years and 9 months. 1863: Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Salem; Acting Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, South Arcot, also at Kistna; Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Tinnevelly. 1864: On medical leave to Europe. 1868: Resigned the service, 2nd February, in England. (Invalid Annuitant.) 1884: Died, 28th August, in England.
