CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1844: Writer and Student at the College. 1845: Permitted to pursue his studies under the Collector of Salem. 1848: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, South Arcot. 1848: Acting Second Assistant to the Accountant-General, Madras. 1849: Acting Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Tanjore. 1850: Second Assistant to the Accountant-General. 1852: Secretary to the Mint Committee. 1853.: Acting Head Assistant to the Accountant-General, and Acting Canarese Translator to Government. 1854: Member of the Board of Examiners; Acting First Assistant to the Accountant-General. 1855: Proceeded to Europe on furlough. 1858: Without employ for 3 months; Secretary to the Mint Committee; Acting First Assistant to the Accountant-General; Acting Collector of Sea Customs. Madras; Acting Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Tinnevelly. 1859: Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Coimbatore; Officiating Postmaster-General, Madras. 1861: On medical leave to Europe for 20 months. 1863: Acting Collector and Magistrate, Madras District; Acting Collector of Sea Customs, Madras; Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, afterwards Civil and Sessions Judge, Chittoor. 1867: Commissioner for Debts of H.H. Prince Azeem Jah, Bahadur. 1871: On furlough to Europe for 16 months. 1872: Retired from service, 12th July. (Annuitant on the Fund.)
