Remarks  covering letter from Col HL Thuillier, Surveyor Genearl of India: I regret to have to submit copy of a letter from Lieutenant TH Holditch, in charge, No 3 Topographical Party, reporting the death of Mr John Harper, Surveyor, 3rd grade, at Ootacamund on the 23rd June last, together with the usual mortuary return in duplicate for the information of the Government of India. 2. The late Mr Harper - who was highly respected and is a loss to the Department - was employed in the unhealthy zemindari of Bustar of the Central Provinces, and in his zeal to effect a good return of work was in consequence kept out too late in the season, which no doubt unfortunately hastened his death shortly after returning to recess quarters.
