Cromwell Massey, late of the Hon. East India Company's Service. He was in the sanguinary battle of Perimbancum, in Mysore, on the 10th Sept. 1780, against the forces of Hyder Ally, when he, with Col. Baillie, Capt. (afterwards Sir David) Baird, and about 200 British soldiers, were taken prisoner, and were exposed to cruel indignities and ill-treatment for three years and nine months, until Hyder Ally's death. |
