Detail  [At his house in Hyde Park Gardens, aged 70. Son of Walter Abingdon Compton, esq. of Gloucestershire. Served some time with a regiment in India, and then returned to England to study law and was called to the bar, Lincoln's Inn, 1808. He then joined the bar at Fort St George. He became Advocate General at Madras and then Calcutta, and then in 1831 Chief judge of Bombay, when he was knighted. He married 1st 1798 a daughter of Dr Caune, a surgeon in the EIC at Madras and 2nd a daughter of Edward Mullins, esq. of Calcutta]
