Detail  [Pages 428-429. At Boulogne, aged 76. 3rd son of Edward Miles, esq. of co. Limerick. Ensign in 1794. In 1824, as Lieut.-col. of the 89th Foot, he proceeded to Ava in command of a brigade. Involved in the fighting there, and commanded the Madras force in several assaults on the enemy. Knighted in 1826]
