Detail  [Pages 661-662. 2nd son of Thomas King, esq. of Drum, co. Renfrew. The eldest son died in China from fever as a midshipman in the navy. He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge, and then in 1825 became a Cornet in the 5th Dragoon Guards. In 1845 he exchanged into the 14th Dragoons, eager for active service. He proceeded to India by the first packet after his exchange. Committed suicide]
