Detail  [Pages 95-96. At Tunbridge Wells. Entered the army in 1794. In 1799 he embarked for the East Indies, and was present at the final capture of Seringapatam. He afterwards served in Bombay and Ceylon. In 1801 embarked for Egypt from India under Baird. Returned to India, on staff of Sir David Baird at Madras, and in the Mahratta war. Returned with Sir David to Europe in 1804. In 1835 was appointed Governor of St Helena]
