Born at Stanford 6 May 1775. In 1803 she married her cousin Henry Sherwood, of the 53rd Foot, and accompanied him to India the same year. ""In consequence of her zealous labours in the cause of religion amongst the soldiers and natives dwelling around her, Henry Martyn and Dr Corrie, the late Bishop of Madras, became acquainted with her."" Her husband died at Twickenham 6 Dec 1849. 1 son & 2 daus., the son being the Rev. Henry Martin Sherwood, Rector of Broughton Hacket, and Vicar of White Ladies Aston, Worcestershire. The elder dau. is wife of a clergyman and has a numerous family. The younger has always lived with her parents, and intends to publish a life of her mother] |
