In 1841 given command of the army in Bombay. Numerous details given on campaign in Scinde. In Oct. 1847 left for England because of the poor health of Lady Napier. Recalled in March 1849 because of disasters in the last Sikh war, but found on arrival in Bombay that his services were not needed.
