Inscription  Sacred to the Memory of Sir John Royds, Knight, who for more than 20 years held the high office of one of the Judges of his Majesty's Supreme Court of Justice at Fort William in Bengal, during which period he conscientiously discharged his important duties with honor to himself and with advantage to the public, while he benefited and adorned the socirty in which he lived by the benevolence of his disposition and the accomplishments of a scholar and a gentleman. Died on the 24th September 1817, aged 65 years.
