Entry  On the 16th of November, last at Ispahan, in Persia, whilst on his journey towards Teheran, Andrew Jukes. Esq., M. D. a Surgeon on the Bombay establishment, holding the appointmentof political agent at Kishm, and employed on a special mission to the court of Persia. Dr. Jukes was born at Cound, in the county of Salop. December 16, 1774 and his public services in India commenced in 1798, from which time,he was employed in the immediate line of his profession until 1802, when he was placed in charge of the medical duties of the Presidency of Bushire. His residence there enabled him also to improve those qualifications for diplomatic employment, which afterwards led to his being selected for important, political trusts. He accompanied Mr. Minosty to Jehran in 1804; attended the Persian ambassador, Mahomed Nubee Khan, to Calcutta, in 1805, and more recently served with the embassies of Sir Harford Jones and Sir John Malcolm to the Court of Persia.
