Summary Remarks  On the 15th February the French Fleet passed Madras. The evening of the same day Sir Edward Hughes followed them. The French Fleet consisted of nine ships of the line. By latest accounts at Madras our Fleet had come up with the French and were then engaged off Allamparva. Monsieur Darion Commanded the French Fleet, but died on the 6th off Pulicat, and the Command devolved to Monsieur Suffrain. They had taken our Ship Hannibal from England, also the Chacer, Captain Parr, with 3 Lacks of Rupees on board, and the following Country Vessels, the Union, the Betsey, the Mary, the Fortune, and Asia, besides a great number of Donies laden with rice.
