Mutiny Service  On return from leave in January 1858, was posted as Joint Magistrate at Bullia in Ghazipore. Engaged in various operations with the troops under Colonel Cumberlege, Sir E. Lugard and General Douglas against the mutineers, who had been driven out of Oudh and were trying; to cross the Ganges to Shahabad. Present at various actions with these, in the defence of Bairia by Lieutenant Jennings, and took part in the destruction by the ""Benares"" gun-boat of a number of boats collected for transport.
