Inscription  Sacred to the memory of Edward Eyre Ward, Esuire, late of the Madras Civil Service, who died on the 5th March 1843, aged 27 years. Beloved and esteemed by all who knew him. His end was peace. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth, yes, saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. Rev. xiv, v, 13. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace. Psalm xxxvii, v, 37.
