Inscription  In memory of Maria McMahon, daughter of the late Major A. A. Rehe, 26th Regiment M.N.I., and beloved wife of Mr. Charles Robert MacMahon, Great Trignometrical Survey, born 18th January 1819, and departed this life at Ootacamund, 23rd August 1860, aged 41 years and 7 months. Maria. ""She rests beneath her native earth And few remain to speak her worth, Her transient sojourn here was spent, In unobtrusive banishment. A flower upon the desert thrown That breathed and lived to God alone, Yet long her gentle ways shall dwell, In hearts that knew and loved her well."" And oft they left their tearful eyes To hear her calling from the skies, And ill could they her absence hear But that they hope to join her there.
