CommentIndex of names from 'A Hand Book to St Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Madras', written by the Rev. Charles Herbert Malden, Canon of St George's Cathedral, Madras and Garrison Chaplain, 1893-4 and 1901-6. The transcription is of The Old Tombstones | Outside St Mary's Church. The other memorials recorded in the book are of those inside the church.

The book contains a useful checklist (as at 1905) of the church's registers from 1680.

The book is in the library of the East India Club in St James's Square, London SW1Y 4LH.

Description of Gravestone  Shield with three birds, surmounted by helmet and emblem of mortality. Inscription in Portuguese.    
Inscription  Here lies buried the body of Narciza Ignacia Parao daughter of John Parao native of Madras who was wife to Francis Joze Da Sylva. Died in first child-bed at the age of 14 years on the 10th of December 1742. She prays for the love of God the devout who read this to say one ""Our Father"" and one ""Hail Mary"" for her soul.
