Mentioned in the Despatch of Brigadier Inglis, 12th November 57. Present at the battle of Cawnpore, under Lord Clyde. Slightly wounded. Served as Brigade Major in the final operations against Lucknow, March 58. Mentioned in the Despatch of Brigadier Campbell, 16th April 58. Medal and 2 Clasps, and one years extra service. Promoted to the rank of Brevet-Major for services at the capture of Lucknow.
