Service  Captain Girdlestone served in Burmah, in 52, 53, and 54, under General Godwin. Present at the occupation of Rangoon; also at Donabew in the actions of 18th and 19th March 53. Medal. In Command of a Detached Company in charge of a fleet of 100 store and ammunition boats on the Irrawaddy, from Donabew to Prome; repulsed a night attack made on his boats at Morrio ; struck on the chest and contused by a spent ball. Present and served with the Flying Brigade after the occupation of Lahore, 46. Served throughout the Mutiny of 57, Present in the action near Agra, 5th July; also at the battle of Agra, 10th October 59, and other minor affairs. Medal.
