Service  Brevet-Major Gough served throughout the Punjab Cam­paign of 48, 49. Present at the actions of Ramnuggur, Sadoolapore,Chillianwallah, and Goojerat. Medal and 2 Clasps. Served at the siege and capture of Delhi, from the 17th July, with the Guide Corps. Commanded the Guide Cavalry in the affairs at Rhotuk, 17th and 18th August, under Major Hodson; engaged in the Cavalry affair in rear of camp, on the 11th September. Served with the Column under Brigadier Showers in the Delhi and Jhujjur Districts. Engaged at the action of Namoul under Brigadier Gerrard. Served with Hodsons Horse at the actions of Gungeeree, Puttiallee and Mynpooree, under Sir J. Seaton, at the action of Shumshabad, near Futtehghur, wounded; under Brigadier A. Hope, served in Command of a Squadron of Hodsons Horse; with the Column under Sir Hope Grant, in Oude, in February 58. Engaged in the action of Meahgunge. Present throughout the siege and, capture of Lucknow. Medal and 2 Clasps, V.C., and Brevet-Majority.
