Service  Captain Hamilton served during the Punjab Campaign, 48, 49. Present at the siege and surrender of Mooltan, 22nd January 48, and at the battle of Goojerat, 21st February 49. Medal and, 2 Clasps. Present during the Mutiny of the Native Troops at Dinapore, 25th July 57. Volunteered and served in the ranks of H. M.s 10th Regiment, when the rebels were driven from the station. Commanded No. 6 Company, H. M.s 10th Regiment, in the Arrah District, including the action at Delawur, and capture of Koer Sings stronghold at Jugdespore. Served with the Royal Naval Brigade, under Captain Sotheby, R. N., from October 57 to January 58, including the action of Saharunpore, 26th December 57. Served under Sir E. Lugard, in the Arrah District, as Interpreter and Staff Officer. Served during the Oude Campaign, 58, 59, under Sir R. D. Kelly. Received thanks of Parliament and Government of India and of the Governor-General. 1 Medal
