Service  Major Hume served in the Campaign on the Sutlej, including the actions of Ferozeshuhur and Sobraon, 45, 46: in the latter engagement twice wounded, once dangerously through the right lung. Medal and Clasp. Commanded the Regiment in the Trans-Goomtee operations under General Sir J. Outram, and subsequently at the storm and capture of Lucknow, under the personal Command of Lord Clyde. Medal and Clasp, and Brevet-Major. Also commanded the Regiment with the Lucknow Field Force under General Sir J. H. Grant.
