Service  Major MacBean served in Scinde as only Commissariat Officer, 50. With the Peshawur Force under Colonel Boileau, which attacked and destroyed Boree and other villages. Accompanied the Field Force from Mooltan to coerce Ali Moorad. Served with Major Renaud in June 57; with General Havelocks Force, from July to September 57. In the actions of Futtehpore, Aoung, Pandoo Nuddee, Cawnpore, Oonao, Boorby-ka-Chokee, Busseerutgunge (1st and 2nd), Bithoor, Mungulwarah, Alum Bagh, and the 1st relief of Lucknow, 25th September 57. Received the thanks of Government. Mentioned in Despatches. Present at the final relief, of Lucknow. Medal and 2 Clasps. As Senior Commissariat Officer in the affairs of Rooya and Allygunge, and of the Army in the Rohilcund Campaign. Present at the re-capture of Bareilly; and received the thanks of the Commander-in-Chief.
