Service  Colonel Mainwaring served throughout the whole of the Affghan Campaign in 39, 40, 41, and 42, including the assault and capture of Ghuznee; in the subsequent year was engaged at the night attack at Baboo Kooshgoh and the destruction of Khoodawah; was one of the garrison of Jellallahad, and in the general action and defeat of Akbar Khan, and subsequent operations leading to the re-occupation of Cabul: was attached to the left wing of the Army of Gwalior; and was present on the Staff at the battle of Punniar. Present with the Army on the Sutlej, including the battle of Sobraon; engaged with the Army of the Punjab at the actions of Ramnuggur, Sadoolapore, Chillianwallah, and Goojerat. 5 Medals, 2 Clasps, and a Bronze Star.
