Service  Honorary Assistant-Surgeon Murray served in the Field Hospital and with HMs 39th in the Gwalior Campaign, 42, 43. Bronze Star. Served in Medical Charge of a Detachment of HMs Troops under Command of Captain Swaby, 18th Royal Irish, on board the ship Buckinghamshire, when that vessel was totally destroyed by fire at the Sandheads. Served throughout the Mutinies of 57, 58. Formed one of the Volunteer Troop of Cavalry organised at Neemuch for the defence of that station, from July to October 57. Present at the attack on mutineers on the night of the 12th August 57, at Neemuch. Present at the action at Nimbheira, 19th September 57. Present at the action at Jeerun, 23rd October 57, Present in the repulse given to the Mundesore rebels by the Neemuch Troops, on the 8th November 57. Was one of the Neemuch Garrison during the defence of the fortified square against the Mundesore rebels, from 9th to 23rd November 57. Was mentioned in the Despatches of Major Simpson and Major Lloyd. Present in Medical Charge of a Squadron of the 2nd Bombay Light Cavalry, at the siege and capture of Kotah, March 58. Medal and Clasp.
