Service  Captain Pond served in the Sutlej Campaign, 45, 46. Present at the action of Alliwal, 28th January 46. Medal. Detached with 3 Companies, 3rd Europeans, under Captain Patton, for the protection of Berhampore, during the Sonthal Rebellion, 55. Present at the action of Sussia, near Agra, 5th July 57. (Slightly wounded.) Present at an engagement with the rebels at the Village of Chawhowlee, surprised, captured, and destroyed the village. In Command of a Wing of the 3rd Europeans under Colonel Hennessy, captured and destroyed a village 30 miles from Agra. Present in action when the Agra Cantonment was attacked by the Gwalior mutineers, 10th October. Present in Command of 4 Companies of Europeans at the taking of Futtehpore-Sikree, 28th October 57. In the same capacity conveyed Commissariat and Ordnance stores to the camp of the Commander-in-Chief at Futtehghur. Served with his Regiment in the Etawah District, restoring order. Commanded 4 Companies of Europeans, which secured the position of Shereghur Ghaut, when 1,500 rebels were driven through the ravines and across the river, and held the Ghaut in action for five or six hours. Mentioned in G. G. O., 9th June 58. With his Regiment at Dholepore, holding the Ghaut until Gwalior fell. Medal.
