Service  Colonel F. Rowcroft, C.B., commanded the Sarun and Goruckpore Field Force with the Naval Brigade of HMs Pearl, in the Goruckpore District, during the Indian War, 57, 58. Served in Command of the Field Force in the successful actions of Shohunpore, 26th December 57; Phoolpore, in Oude, on the Gogra, capturing three guns, 20th February 58; of Amorah, near Fyzabad, capturing eight guns, 5th March 58. Appointed Brigadier from 1st January 58. Commanded in the actions of 17th and 25th April 58, near Amorah; of the 26th November and 3rd December 58, on the Raptee; and present at the battle of Toolseepore, near the Nepal Hills, against Balla Rao and Mahomed Hussun, capturing two guns, 23rd December 58: in the several actions captured sixteen guns. C. B.. and Medal.
