Present at the forcing of the Wuddunpoor Pass, 3rd March ; at the action of Betwah, 1st April; siege and capture of Jhansie, 3rd April; action of Koonch, 7th May; at the different affairs at Gololi, 20th, 21st, and 22nd May; and taking of Calpee, 23rd May 58. Mentioned in the Despatch of Sir Hugh Rose, 22nd June 58. Served under Brigadier MacDuff, and present at the various attacks on the rebels of the Jaloun District, 58, 59, as Deputy-Commissioner. Present at the action of Sahao as A. D. C. to the Brigadier. Mentioned in his Despatch, 5th September 58, and in that of Major-General Whitlock, 9th September 58.
