Service  Lieutenant Thomson served with the Army before Delhi in 57, from the 31st July to the final assault and capture of the city. Commanded a Detachment of Kumaon Battalion in the action of Ludlow Castle, under the walls of Delhi, 12th August 57, when four guns were captured from the rebels. Mentioned in the Despatch of Brigadier Showers, 12th August 57. Served under Lord Clyde at Futtehghur, in Command of a Squadron of the 17th Irregular Cavalry. Served with several diiferent Columns in the Jumna Doab. Present at Cawnpore, under Sir J. Inglis, during the Operations, leading to the final capture of Lucknow. Present throughout the Rohilcund Campaign, including the capture of Bareilly, 5th May 58, and several other engagements. Mentioned in the Despatch of Lord Clyde, 8th May 58. Medal and Clasp.
