Service  Lieutenant-Colonel Turnbull served during the Sutlej Campaign, 46. Placed in charge of the bridge of boats on that river. Medal. Received the thanks of the Commander-in-Chief. Served with Colonel Maxwells Brigade at Calpee, in the construction of Batteries at Calpee, and firing the Mortar Batteries at Delouli during the advance on Calpee. Brought to the notice of Sir Hugh Rose in Despatch, 18th May 58, and mentioned by Sir Hugh Rose, in the Calpee Despatches for "high services," 22nd June 58. Served with the Central India Force as Assistant Quarter-Master-General, and present at the capture of Gwalior under Sir Hugh Rose. Served as Chief Engineer under Sir R. Napier, at the capture of Fort Powri, and mentioned in his Despatch. Medal and Clasp.
