Served throughout the final siege and capture of Lucknow, including the repulse of the enemys attack on Alum Bagh, defeat of a body of Fanatics near Moosah Bagh, and other minor Cavalry skirmishes. Served under Sir E. Lugard. Present at the affair of Tigree, 2 guns captured, capture of Jugdespore, Jhitoorah, Metahi, 2 guns captured, and other skirmishes. Served as Deputy Assistant Quarter-Master-General to the Shahabad Field Force, under Brigadier Douglas. Present throughout the Campaigns in Jugdespore, Khymore Hills, Palamow, Behar, including night surprise of the enemys Camp at Tuly-a-Duhar, and affairs at Karee Sath, and Mujowleea. Major Wilkinson was seven times mentioned in Despatches during the Mutiny: by Sir H. Grant, Brigadier Campbell, Sir E. Lugard (twice), Brigadier Douglas (twice), and by Colonel Haggart. Received Brevet-Major for services during the Mutiny. Medal and Clasp. |
