Service  Captain Wood served during the Gwalior Campaign, 43 44: present at the battle of Maharajpore. Bronze Star. Served during the Sutlej Campaign, 45, 46: present at the defence of Ferozepore and battle of Ferozeshuhur. Medal. Severely wounded through the leg by a grape shot at Jhelum, 8th July 57. Was Orderly Officer to Colonel Gerrard under a heavy fire of musketry for twelve consecutive hours.
