IOR/L/MIL/9/435-623: During the First World War the supply of regular British officers for the Indian Army were greatly expanded. Temporary Commissions were granted to British Army officers, NCOs and enlisted men of the required educational standard. These applications have been arranged in volumes and provide useful background information, including birth certificates and their British Army service.
