| Burial Year | 1805 | | First Names | Charles | | Surname | Warden | | Date of Death | 1805, October 16th | | Place of Death | Arcot | | Source Year | 1806 | | Source Edition | April 29th | | Entry | On the 16th of October last, at Arcot, in the East Indies, Cornet Charles Warden, of HM 19th Dragoons, son of the late Frances Warden, Esq. of the HEICs Civil Service at Bombay. He had been out with some of his brother Officers on a shooting party; and bathing being proposed on their return, he, in the flow of spirits with which he was in general very happily, but in this instance most fatally, gifted, leaped into a Tank with the others. He immediately disappeared; and, being upwards of an hour under water before the body was dragged up, all endeavours to restore this unfortunate and promising youth to his country, and his friends, proved ineffectual. All classes of the Officers of the Corps to which he belonged, bear their mournful testimony to the loss sustained by that fine Regiment, in Cornet Warden\'s death; which, alas! but enhances the grief of his widowed mother, and the other branches of his disconsolate family. |
