Detail  Capt. Parker, of Heavitree, near Exeter, commander of his Majesty's ship Intrepid, of 64 guns. On that ship's returning from the East Indies, with the Van Tromp, as convoy to a fleet of merchantmen, by a sudden heel of the ship, he fell overboard into the sea; and a gale of wind blew so strong at that time, that he sunk before any assistance could be rendered to him. Thus perished a worthy man and a deserving officer, leaving a disconsolate widow and several children to lament his loss, as well as every other person who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He was brother to Vice-admiral Sir William Parker, now at Lisbon.
