(NI 5072 1896) Sir, Thomas Hickey,Army Pensioner, desires me to inform you that it was in the East India Company he enlisted on 23rd.May 1839 and not in the 2nd.European Regiment as he erroneously stated in the last quarters papers.He was discharged on the 4th.July 1855 in Leadenhall St. Signed,T.E.Galtgamble,D.I. In 1896 the Military Pension authorities determined to take a 'snapshot' of ex-soldiers of the EIC & Indian Armies who were receiving a pension in Europe. This snapshot provides very interesting details of the careers of each soldier and each widow receiving a pension.
