CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1833: Writer. 1835: Assistant to the Principal Collector and Magistrate, South Arcot. 1836: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Guntoor; Acting Assistant to the Principal Collector and Magistrate, South Arcot. 1839: Acting Head Assistant to the Principal Collector and Magistrate at Salem, and afterwards in South Arcot. 1841: Assistant, and subsequently Head Assistant to Principal Collector and Magistrate, South Arcot. 1842: Deputy Secretary to Government. 1844: Commissioner for Government Lotteries. 1845: Proceeded to Europe on furlough. 1849: Acting Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Coimbatore. 1850: At first Acting, then Sub-Secretary to the Board of Revenue. 1853: Acting Secretary to the Board of Revenue. 1854: Acting Secretary to the Board of Revenue; Acting Tamil Translator to Government; Member of the Board of Examiners. 1855: Secretary to the Revenue Board, and Acting Collector, Madras. 1856: Collector, Madras; Member of the Board of Examiners. 1860: Collector of the United Districts of Madras and Chingleput, and Magistrate of Chingleput. 1863: Resigned the service, 14th May. (Annuitant.)
