He was called up for chaplaincy service (at the age of 73) during the last seven months of European War and de-mobilised 15th February 1919. Married 21st December 1869, Mary Agnes (born 23rd October 1852), daughter of Alexander Lester, and has issue - Kathleen, born 17th December 1870 (married 3rd June 1903, G. Frost, OBE, Controller Military Dairy Farms); William Lester, superintendent of police, Baluchistan, born 29th January 1873; Fanny, born 2nd September 1874 (married in Kashmere); John Clark, assistant superintendent of police, Baluchistan, born 10th December 1875; a daughter, born 4th April 1877, died soon after; Henry Cranwill, in Australia, born 29th September 1878; Julian Arthur, Finance Department, India Government, born 7th August 1880; Alexander Lester, surgeon-dentist, born 4th August 1882; Grace Minnie, born 17th March 1884 (married 19th October 1910, E. G. Whittick, merchant, Bombay); Helen Agnes, born 9th December 1888 (married 28th December 1910, Dr Arthur Campbell). Publication - A Chapter in the Life of a Soldier (Karachi, nd). |
