Body of text  WALKER, ALEXANDER, appointed missionary at Madras under the auspices of the Ladies' Association for Foreign Missions in 1847; ordained 11th March 1855, and transferred to service of Foreign Mission Committee; admitted chaplain HEICS 28th September 1859; admitted minister of Rescobie 19th October 1880 (cf Vol V, 303). His widow died 4th March 1925.
