Inscription  Sacred to the memory of Maria DeWet, the beloved wife of Captain O. G. DeWet, 51st Regiment M.N.I., who fell asleppt in Jesus, in the full enjoyment of peace through the blood of her crucified Redeemer, on the 1st March 1861, aged 40 years, 4 months and 27 days. ""If we beleive that Jesus died and rose again even so, them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him."" I Thess. iv, verse 14.
